On the 25th January WILD Young Parents Project celebrated 25 years of working with vulnerable young parents and their families. The Charity celebrated this milestone at the Penventon Park Hotel and the afternoon was a busy and inspiring one, with a Young Mums choir, Guest Speakers and Art Work created in the Young Mums groups. WILD celebrated with guests being delegates, funders and young parents who have used the service over the years. WILD has campaigned and supported over 12,000 parents and children since it was started as a coffee morning by some young mums who wanted to get together in a safe environment and has grown and now targets areas with high levels of deprivation and child poverty using outreach programmes, music and art sessions and intensive 1-2-1 support.
Over the last quarter of a century WILD has been awarded The Guardian 2013 Charity Award & the Queens Award for Voluntary Services. Speaking at the event, project manager Jo Davies said: “We believe young parents and their children have a right to a better future, equal choice, education and opportunity and freedom from poverty”
The afternoon culminated with singing from the Young Mums choir singing Three Little Birds by Bob Marley with full audience participation.
