All in the name of work!
As we enjoyed looking over Padstow bay eating some very delicious food cooked by 'Woodfired Canteen', Lauren and I sat on a hay bale discussing how wonderful it was that we were lucky enough to be sitting in the sunshine, listening to great music, great food and all in the name of work!
"WILD Young Parents Project were so lucky to be picked as one of the two chosen charities for the The Bohemian Ball event alongside Surfers Against Sewage."
We were surprised to be picked as firstly despite our 26 years as a local charity we are still little known outside our working partners and the parents we support, and, secondly there are many more charities who are a 'more popular' choice in Cornwall
WILD are a small charity with under 35 people in our team, some are core team, some are crèche team and some are volunteers. We all work together as a wider team with the main objectives being that families are 'healthy, happy and safe'. We are striving to change people's perceptions of young parents across the UK.
Now it wasn't all just sitting on hay bales and staring at the beautiful sunset although that was great, we also spent the evening speaking to a wide variety of people discussing WILD and what the charity is trying to achieve.
We loved having the opportunity to chat about the history of WILD, how it's moved forward and our vision for the future. We spoke about all of the amazing things we do in groups and the parents we have had the pleasure to work with.
" The main thing that we took away was the opportunity to make some really amazing new contacts, people offered to help us in the groups, a photographer offered to work with us, we were offered wellbeing sessions and we received raffle donations from Bedruthan Steps Hotel, Polurrian Bay Hotel, Gwel an Mor and Budock Vean. We are so grateful for everyone's' kindness! "
Last but not least we met Tracy and her team at 'Blue Fizz Events' who picked us as their charity and raised lots of money to support the work of WILD, they also know how to host the most amazing events and were so welcoming
